Import rules and regulations-
Japanese automobile industry is one of the well-known and largest industries in the world. The country permits importation of only left-hand drive vehicles.

Restriction:-
Inspections are carried out on the vehicle before it is allowed in the Netherlands. The RDW (Rijksdienst voor wegverkeer) ensures that the vehicle meets environmental, safety and economic demands.

Import Tax Rate:-
Tax free importation of vehicles in Netherlands from non-EU nation is allowed although permit is required. A permit is granted if the importer has lived in a non-EU state for at least a year and owned the vehicle for minimum of six months. Once the vehicle is imported, it is not to be sold for at least one year after importation.

If permit is not granted, importer is required to pay duties and taxes on the vehicle imported. Taxes involved VAT, import duties. Importer also has to pay BPM (Belasting van Personenauto's en Motorrijwielen) to register the vehicle in the country.
