Import rules and regulations for Japanese used vehicles in Senegal

Age restriction-

Importation of following vehicles are prohibited in the country-

• Private vehicles of more than eight years old.
• Commercial passenger vehicles with a minimum of 7 seats above eight years.
• Motor vehicles for the transport of goods exceeding 3.5 tons and are more than 10 years.
• Motorcycles and cycles of a cylinder capacity below 50 cc.

• Copy of Passport
• Commercial Invoice
• Original Certificate of Title and Registration
• Non-Sale Certificate – declaration that the vehicle will not be sold for 2 years after importation
• Drivers License & International Insurance Policy (green card)
• Certificate of Change of Residence/Letter of Transfer

Duties and taxes-

Customs duty and VAT is charged on vehicles imported in the country, except for those that are exempted.

Shipping Port-

The most common shipping port in Senegal is Dakar. The most common method of shipment of used vehicle is RoRo (Roll-on Roll-off) shipment method. On request of customers, more expensive yet safe method of shipment, container method is used.
