Left hand drive vehicles:-
Importation of left-hand drive vehicles is allowed in the country. Right hand drive vehicles are prohibited in the country. Motorbikes over 250cc are not allowed in the country.

  • Certificate of Title and Registration
  • Letter of Employment
  • Commercial or Purchase Invoice
  • Original Bill of Lading- It must include chassis number, engine number, cubic capacity, year of manufacture, brand and model.
  • Driver’s license
  • International Insurance Policy

Duties and Taxes:-
Duties and taxes are to be paid on the used vehicle imported in the country. However, Foreign Diplomats are allowed to import one vehicle into Laos duty free. Letter from the Laos Ministry of Foreign Affairs is required verifying the importer’s status and allowing the permit of duty free vehicle import. Vehicles are subject to duties assessed on the type, age and engine size of the vehicle.

Shipping Port:-
The major shipping port in Laos is Port of Laos. The most common shipping method RoRo (Roll-on, Roll-off) method is used for vehicle shipment. However, on request of customers more expensive shipping method of container shipping is arranged.
