Finding the most environmental friendly cars

Today the most common topic of conversation is to how to preserve the environment. The topic of discussion is global warming, pollution and dependency on non-renewable sources of energy. We already have the technology, we need ways to control our dependency on oil, balance the weather and improvise of way of living. The main components contributing towards polluting the environment are the harmful gases from vehicles. They are not only harmful to the environment but also cause serious health problems. At present, the most important topic of concern is to find solution to control the emission of harmful gases.

Renowned automakers such as Toyota, Honda, Nissan, BMW, Audi and others are busy in manufacturing improved models of car across the world using alternative fuel to reduce greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Eco friendly cars like flex fuel models, hybrid electric and electric cars, hydrogen vehicles and solar should take the roads commercially to save the Earth. Our world is already blessed with Hybrid and Electric cars that contribute a lot in reduction of environmental pollution, less fuel consumption and making the world a better place to live in.

Today, almost every car maker is taking eager steps in the field of developing hybrid or electric vehicles. Rapid development is on to produce more eco- friendly and fuel efficient cars all over the world. New and better versions are added frequently. Most popular hybrid cars like Honda Civic, Honda Insight and Toyota Prius have surpassed the expected reduction levels. The recommended levels suggested for a typical passenger vehicle should be equal to 5.5 metric tons of carbon dioxide as per EPA, but these hybrid vehicles producing 4.1, 3.5, and 3.5 tons shown a major improvement in carbon dioxide emissions. Hybrid vehicles can reduce air emissions of smog-forming pollutants by up to 90% and cut carbon dioxide emissions to half.

The rise in pollution in the environment, and constant rise of fuel prices, has made people diverted towards Electric cars. These cars are the only and most desired transportation to keep both, rising pollution and rising fuel prices in control for present and future. Honda EV PLUS, Nissan ALTRA EV, Nissan LEAF, Toyota RAV4-EV, BMW 5-Series , Audi A8 and many more to come. At the New York International Auto Show, Nissan LEAF was named the 2011 World Car of the Year. The car beats BMW 5-Series and the Audi A8 for the top spot as the 100% zero-emission car. This 5-seater, 5-door hatchback is the world’s first, purpose-built, mass-produced electric car. It has a range of over 100 miles on a full charge claims Nissan, takes around 8 hours to recharge using 220-240V power supply and produces zero tailpipe emissions.

It is obvious that these cars are far more expensive than petrol or diesel cars and are unaffordable for many people. While using petrol or diesel vehicle one can use less “accelerator” while driving. Using smaller compact cars when possible, keeping the windows shut while on highway drive, use your car air conditioners cautiously, keeping the gas tank little empty, proper maintenance and overhauling of your car can do a lot. Even there are many Japanese used vehicle exporters that can provide second-hand quality vehicle at affordable prices. Thus, one can become a proud owner of a used hybrid at affordable prices.

It is necessary to find a most fuel efficient and environmental friendly car for better future. These cars should reduce the emission of harmful components in the air, yet give the same performance as that of petrol or diesel cars. It’s high time that we switch to better transportation option.
